On behalf of our staff and congregation, welcome to First Methodist Sweetwater!

No matter who you are or where you’ve been, you are invited to worship and grow with us each Sunday and throughout the week. If you are looking for a church home or simply have a few questions, please contact me anytime.

As United Methodists we believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and the ultimate authority for our lives. We trust in Jesus Christ as our savior and believe that by the power of his resurrection we become new creations. We believe that God’s forgiveness has no limits. There is nothing God cannot redeem; He loves all people regardless of their past choices or lifestyle. As the body of Christ, we embrace all people and strive to grow in our faith that our lives may be “worthy of the gospel of Christ.”

First Methodist Sweetwater offers many opportunities for involvement. Our music program includes vocal choirs from age three and up. If you play an instrument, you might enjoy our contemporary worship team as well.

Children are an important emphasis at First Methodist. In addition to the regular activities of Children’s Church and Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and the music program, we offer a variety of activities throughout the year especially for children in grades 1-6 (Kingdom Kids).

Our Middle School & High School students are also a significant part of our congregation. All people need acceptance and affirmation, though it is especially important for preteen and teenage students. Our student ministry seeks to connect young people with God in a meaningful way that transforms lives and makes disciples.

Come visit one of our adult Sunday School classes if you are looking for a close-knit group where you can grow in your faith each week. There are classes for each stage of life. Sunday School classes for all ages meet Sunday mornings at 10am.

We offer Bible Studies and Small Groups throughout the year. See our calendar or ministry page for updates. Prayer ministries are forming to seek God’s will and direction. Our United Methodist Women also meet for fellowship, support and mission studies. The Walk to Emmaus offers weekend retreats and weekly formation groups. Our missions and outreach caregivers have given hundreds of volunteer hours to care for the less fortunate and the elderly, as well as providing for food and other assistance.

Again, welcome. We hope to see you soon!
